Back To School

We have just finished our first period of practice! I was in a group with three other girls from class (I’m even learning names now! *is proud*). We were going to be in a 6th grade class. The kids are so cute! Most of our class were Twilight-fans!! I must say that I am a bigger fan of Harry Potter, but it gives me hope for the next generation to see the kiddies like good literature *grins*.

They also like my T-shirts. One of the boys told me I had, like, thousands of T-shirts with different motives. I think this is fun!

But, sadly, because of illness, we didn’t get the best of experience, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. And we get to see them after Christmas, because then we’re going back to the same class *does the happy-dance*

Now, we’re back to school and in maths class. Yes, I’m in class now. Mom, dad; if you’re reading this, I do pay attention to the teacher, don’t worry! *stage whisper to the rest* But it’s so boring!

I was on a Halloween celebration on Saturday. It was brilliant. I had a cape that my aunt had made for me, and I got lots of compliments for it! *jumps up and down in excitement* I also wore contact lenses that were pink, with slit pupils *grins widely* I also got some compliments for those and it was all really fun!

Yesterday was the usual Wednesday-party at Martin’s place (one of the guys in class, he’s cool). It was 70’s themed! I was dressed as a hippie, and didn’t get to bed until three in the morning. Quite reduced today, in other words *grumbles about maths workshop that prevents me from sleeping longer in the morning*

Our maths book is in English. I don’t like that; it’s annoying! The book is so more difficult than it had to be, and it isn’t properly marked. It’s not one chapter for each theme or something like that. I think the maths they teach us consists only of fractions. And yet they expect us to do well on their tests. I didn’t by the way. I did okay on the last one though! This is good because that’s the test that means something.

But now I should get back to pretending to pay attention. Oh joy..

School time!

And here I am. Sitting in Norwegian class. We have Norwegian the entire Wednesday and Monday. It’s weird. I’m not used to having only one subject a day. Thursdays are good, even though we have maths. We start school at 1 o’clock *grins* It’s awesome.

We had a maths test in our first class. I have never in my entire life felt so stupid…! I have forgotten everything! Multiplication without a calculator, for example. Can we say huh? I feel stupid.

Our teachers are pretty cool. One of our teachers started our very first class by standing on the desk telling us he had a confession. Apparently, he enjoys ski jumping *nods sagely* He then continued telling us a really good metaphor, where sitting on the top of the hill before taking the jump, was the teacher education we are now taking. The jump itself is our carrier. If we don’t make a good start before we jump, the jump isn’t going to go well. You see? A very good metaphor and the teacher immediately became my favourite.

Our class is quite large, so it’s difficult to remember names, but I’m learning, slowly but surely *grins*

Our Norwegian teacher is really good. The way he talks makes me want to go out and try the methods he tell us about. I’m not sure I look forward to being in a school in a few weeks though. It’s probably going to be scary. It will be a bunch of eleven-year-olds *shudders*. Kids can be scaaary *shudders again*

Now we’re going to work on a text written by a child. It’s called “the Book about Teddy” or “Boken omm Bamse” in Norwegian. And it’s with errors, because this book is after all written by a kid.

We’ll have fun *grins*

HiNT in Levanger

I have now started school in Levanger. The school is really nice so far, and Anette and Rachel is my closest neighbours. We live down the hall from each other *grins* I predict a fun-filled year!

I’m sitting in the cafeteria right now, and have just spend the last 30 minutes connecting my computer to the wireless here. *curses about Vista* I mean, yeah sure Vista is new and more fancy, but I prefer XP. Too bad none of the new computer has that. Speaking of computers; why don’t the library computers have Word?? They have Word Reader, but not Word! What is the deal with that?!

I’m getting tired of pasta already by the way.

Tonight, we are going to Oscars (the local pub) where they have a trafic lights disco! *grins* it’s going to be fun!

One of our teachers remind me of Dagfinn. It makes me miss him a little. He jumps, suddenly shout and wave about with his hands. And I think he’s going to hit someone with that pointing stick of his someday. Will be interesting to see if he don’t. I compare all out teachers with teachers I have had before. It’s fun! And I like all the teachers here so far, especially Aage and Arve. They are brilliant! Aage is the one who’s a lot like Dagfinn.

Going home for a visit this weekend by the way. I forgotted some stuffz.

OUCH!

Yesterday, me and Anette went to see a Viking Village. The brochure we had said that it would be a marked and everything. When we got there, however, we were sorely disappointed. Turns out the Viking Village was a hotel and a restaurant that didn’t open until 6 o’clock. Big disappointment. Instead we went to Perlan to see the Saga Museum, which was quite good and saved our day.

Today, on the other hand, we went horseback riding. I named my horse Fishy in my head. Don’t ask, I have no idea myself. The horse was big! At least it looked like it was to me. I even need help to get up in it. *grumbles about short legs* *muses*And I think half the stab in that place was Swedish… Why are there so many Swedish people in Iceland??

My horse was a calm one, luckily. No one in our group had any experience with horses to begin with. The horses did all the work, really. At least my horse did. And I don’t think he likes water too much. We were going to cross a river, and mine stopped when we reached it. I had to make him move again. Then when we stopped on the other side so that everyone could catch up, Fishy (yes, I will continue to call him that) took the opportunity to eat a bit. I almost fell off when he suddenly decided that the grass aaaaall the way down to the ground looked tasty *loves him still*. He also liked to follow. When the horse in front of him stopped, so did he, even though the other guy wanted me to pass him so that he could ride next to his wife. Stubborn horse. I got him to walk eventually though.

It rained first on our trip. And I, stupid me, forgot to bring other shoes than my lovely purple Converse and a pair of crocs. What the f*** was I thinking??? Mum, I still need you to pack for me. As a result of my stupidity, my Converse is now in dire need of a wash, but I’m in too much pain to bother.

And if anyone tells you tylt (a form of riding that only the Icelandic horses have) is like floating, kick their arse for me, will you? I haz a pains. (ICanHasCheezburger webside = not good for my English). I got myself a mantra when we were going in tylt: Sports-bra, sports-bra, sports-bra. I wanted it. I wanted it very much. My butt, thighs, back, shoulders, neck and everything in-between is aching! Moving means paaaaiiin! Which is why I’m camped in bed with my computer, chocolate (which is actually called Sirius! Gotta love that!!) and coke. If it weren’t for the pain, life would be good.

After the horse riding, we went to the Blue Lagoon. That was beautiful! It has earned its name at least! Very. Very blue! The water was absolutely wonderful! And warm, we must not forget warm! And steamy! *loved Blue Lagoon*. They also had pots of mud mask along the edges! The lagoon itself is not man made, except from the place where they closed the area down a bit and the building with showers, changing rooms, café, restaurant and souvenir shop. I’ve bought stuffs! *is happy*

We ended the day by going to a Kebab place and buy food at 11. Now we’re sitting in our beds eating our food.

We have done stuff. We have eaten a ridiculously cheap four course meal of traditional Icelandic food. It was yummy, and we were stuffed afterwards!

Today we went to see the historical museum. Or, we went to the museum, ate lunch and bought some books. We didn’t really enter the museum part at all. We also met fellow Norwegians! They were even from Trøndelag! One of the guys had even studied teacher’s school at the same place we are going to the fall. It’s a small world, after all.

The people who tidy up our room while we’re out, seems to like our stuffed dragons. Every time we come back to the room, the dragons are sitting on our pillows and looks like their waiting for us. Its small things like that that makes me like the hotel so much more.

Dragons

We saw a new funny sign on one of the shops we passed today. It said: “Open when we feeel like it”. And yes, I’m aware that I wrote that with three e’s. It was written like that on the door.

For some reason; the service in the two Asian restaurants we’ve been to, have been bad. It doesn’t make us happy. The service in the Icelandic restaurant, on the other hand, was very good. The people were really nice, and took time to explain to us what it was they were serving us. It was really nice.

Tomorrow we are going to a shopping mall called Kringlan. We suddenly discovered that the riding trip to the Blue Lagoon was on Saturday, not Thursday as we believed. Oh well. It was good that we found out at least!

Day One

We are now at a hotel in Reykjavik! Yes, that’s right; I’m in Iceland!

My very good friend (Anette) and I took a plane here today. We didn’t know though, that they are celebrating a national holiday today! Some sort of Labour Day, the receptionist told us. Oh well, we got food anyway and the stores open up again tomorrow.

We found the best signs on some of the stores! A tattoo shop had a sign that said: “The management reserves the right to beat the shit out of anybody who pisses them off”. Isn’t that a brilliant sign or what! Another store had a sign that said: “We are closed today as we are busy drinking cocktails!” Once again; brilliant!

On Thursday, we a re going to the Blue Lagoon, and we are getting there by horseback! I’ve never ridden a horse in my life, so this is going to be interesting. I predict a lot of pain. Luckily we are only riding to the Blue Lagoon. We take a bus back to the hotel. The rest of the week is left very much unplanned. We know a few things we want to do, but we haven’t made a plan for when yet. This is a holiday, not a duty!

Will update more tomorrow evening. I apologize for taking so long before I updated again, but I am back now! No need to fear!

Christmas Holiday?

I want it to be Christmas holiday now!  Is getting a bit homesick by now. No, actually, that’s a lie; I’ve been homesick for quite a while.

BUT, I should be writing of all the fun I have had so far during my stay in England.

Thinking Like A Writer soon became my favourite course. You just have to love a class where we are required to buy a notebook and give it a name and personality! *jumps up and down in happiness* And writing! Lots of writing! *squeals*

Life Writing 1 is my second favourite; more writing! In this class it isn’t fiction though. We write about things that have actually happened, memories and such. But it is very fun and we learn many good writing exercises!

And Anette visited me on October! That was fun! We went to central London, and generally had a lot of fun! Oceana is an interesting place. We stayed a long time in the “cheesy room”, because they played music we grew up with in there. Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys. You name it, they had it!

I have also received many compliments on my English! *preens* It feeds my ego! Two people have even told me my English is “awesome”! *grins widely* My life just gets better and better. Today one of the girls in my Life Writing seminar told me she thought I was brave for travelling all the way from Norway (alone) to study. I don’t feel very brave, but I will take it as the compliment it is anyway.

It’s so many Norwegians here! I even have another girl from Trøndelag in some of my classes! What are the odds for that?! *is amazed* She has even lived in the very tiny place that I am from, if only for a short amount of time, long time ago, but still! *is incredulous*

Hmmm… What more to say? So much have happened; I really don’t know what more to mention….

Wants to have Christmas break!! Home sweet home! Miss the family, and the dog! Must not forget the dog! Look at my header, people. That’s Jeger’s eyes! Aren’t he adorable?

Okay, going to bed now. Don’t think this is going to get more intelligent than this at this time. Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite! *waves*

England!

Here I am! In London, at Roehampton University! This place is awesome! I live at Whitelands College, which is a bit far from Digby Stuart, where my classes are going to be. There’s supposed to be a bus driving between the two colleges though, I just haven’t seen it yet.

I have met new people, I have met my teachers (or tutors as the so nicely call them here), I have travelled with a double decker and I have seen the most known sites in London! In other words; these have been some busy days!

My first class is tomorrow, Monday; and it’s between 15:00 and 18:00. The class is called “Thinking Like A Writer”. Doesn’t it sound like fun?!

I really can’t press everything I would like to say into this post, so I will post more later on. For now, goodbye!

Exams. Gah!

Hello again everyone!

I’m done with my three written exams! Yay! I survived!! I felt so sorry for my friend, who had French! I’m so glad that I didn’t get that last year! I haven’t had French in a year and I’m still feeling the freedom! The last exam is Friday next week. Meaning *dramatic drumroll* Friday the 13th…! We are so dead. I’m going to die, and then what will I do with my place at Roehampton???

I met a Norwegian girl at yougofurther.com who is also going to Roe. That’s fun *big grin* We’re even taking the same course!!

Oooooooh… Grades today! We got our grades in English and Norwegian. Norwegian went better than English, which isn’t that fun, seeing as I’m going away to London. But hey; I’m going away to London anyway!! *jumps up and down* I still haven’t gotten over that.

YAAAYYYYY!!!!! I GOT ACCEPTED AT ROEHAMPTON!

Yay me!!

I feel like jumping around, squeeling like a fangirl in fangirl-mode! I have done that today acctually.. And I feel like calling all my friends and tell the the wonderfull news!

Okay… Maybe I should start with the beginning? I applied for Roehampton University for next year. I have been waiting for my answer for ages (at least it feels that way). Today I got my acceptance letter!!! YAY again!!

SOOOOO *drumrolls* I’ll be attending Roehampton University and I’ll be taking Creative Writing and Journalism and News Media!!!!! I can get my bachelor-grade and become a journalist!!!!!!!!! This is my dream coming true, people!!

And why Roehampton University is written in bold? Because I feel like it damnit!!

WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!! *doing the happy-dance*
